Throughout the year, Haliburton Forest offers a
variety of employment opportunities! With a core
staff of over 40 employees, our team is as diverse
as can be imagined. A wide variety of skills is
applied at Haliburton Forest and with the diversity
of its operation and the appeal of its natural
resources, staff play a prominent role in the day to
day running of this unique organisation. Haliburton
Forest is a growing company and positions from
forestry and outdoor education to office management
and maintenance become available from time to time.
While most positions at Haliburton Forest are long
term or permanent, seasonal positions are offered
during summer and winter.
The following positions are available for the
summer and fall of 2008 :
Maintenance Staff:
Job Description: Staff involved in the day to
day maintenance of the sites and facilities at
Haliburton Forest. This includes buildings, trails
and other infrastructure such as bridges or roads.
In the winter maintenance staff carry out trail
maintenance for the various recreational operations.
This is a full-time position
Skills and Certifications required are:
- previous maintenance experience
- ability to work independently
- small engine repair skills
- chainsaw experience (certification an asset)
- ATV/snowmobile experience an asset
- valid driver's license
- construction/carpentry skills an asset
- willingness to work outdoors
- CPR/First Aid an asset
Sawmill Staff:
Job Description: Haliburton Forest operates its
own sawmill, sawing predominantly hemlock for its
EcoLog log-building business. We have an opening for
a staff position at this circular mill. As the
operation is small, the successful candidate will be
required to staff several positions, from yard work
to mill duties.
Skills and Certifications required are:
- previous work experience at a mill an asset
- chainsaw experience (certification an asset)
- experience in sawing lumber an asset
- ability work in a team
- CPR/First Aid an asset
Haliburton
Forest's Internship Program:
Haliburton Forest operates an internship
program, designed to provide participants with
experiences and skills in fields, otherwise
difficult to access. In particular internship
positions are available in Outdoor Education,
Forestry and Horselogging. Internships commonly run
for 4 months, commencing in January, May and
September. Room and board is provided during the
internship and participation in all aspects of
Haliburton Forest's operation is an integral part of
the internship experience.
